The Indiana Pacers defeated the Atlanta Hawks 89-85 at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The Pacers improved to 38-10, and the Hawks fell to 25-22.
The Hawks had two really bad quarters, and two really good quarters. Unfortunately for them, the bad quarters were the story of the game, and the Hawks lost by four points.
Atlanta scored 15 points in the first quarter, but led by one point at the half after a great second quarter effort. In the third quarter, the Pacers held the Hawks to 12 points, and opened up an eleven point lead heading into the fourth. Indiana was able to hold on despite the Hawks’ 30-point effort in the fourth quarter.
Indiana top performers: David West scored 22 points along with 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Paul George netted 18 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Lance Stephenson took a hard fall, and only played 23 minutes, but managed to put up 10 points and grab four rebounds. Roy Hibbert finished with eight points and six boards.
Atlanta top performers: Mike Scott scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two assists. Elton Brand netted 12 points and grabbed seven boards. Paul Millsap added seven points, 12 rebounds, and four steals. Jeff Teague finished with nine points and seven assists.
