Despite some controversy the last 24 hours, four-star defensive end Malik McDowell has chosen to take his talents to the Michigan State Spartans, despite the wishes of his parents.
Malik McDowell picks Michigan State. Big get for the Spartans.

The 6-7, 290-pound defensive end has been in the news for the last 24 hours, but not necessarily for the right reasons as his parents had publicly campaigned against their son ultimately going to East Lansing, which he obviously did today.
“From when we talked Friday he’s coming around because he knows how adamant we are about him not attending Michigan State,” Malik’s father Greg McDowell told 247 Sports.com. “I don’t have anything bad to say against Michigan State but I don’t think they’re the school for my son. I think the coaches are cool and they’re establishing a good program, but this is my son and I choose to not want him there.
This is a huge get for the Spartans, who made this choice over attending Michigan, Ohio State, or Florida State.
