In one of the earlier announcements of National Signing Day on Wednesday, four-star defensive end Solomon Thomas chose to play his football for the next few seasons for David Shaw and the Stanford Cardinal.

Thomas was the first commitment of the day on live television on ESPNU. It was a brief announcement, which also is the front runner for the most creative of the day as you can see above. He’s already got himself ready, attire-wise, for a career in Palo Alto.

He’s a 6-2, 258-pound monster coming off the edge which will provide some much-needed athleticism along that Stanford defensive front. He’s big, physical, but more importantly in the Pac-12, he’s got nice speed for someone his size.

Again, this was the first live TV commitment of the day, the first of many more to come throughout the day. We’ll analysis of every announcement on Wednesday as they happen live.

Stanford came in within the Top 20 in most of the rankings, and this commitment gives them an early push.
