Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide landed themselves one of the best defensive players in the country on Wednesday during the National Signing Day festivities as they grabbed 5-star linebacker Rashaan Evans, right from under the noses of the rival Auburn Tigers.
Evans, from Auburn High School in the state of Alabama, had been going back and forth between the two SEC powerhouses, and things got so heated lately that both schools ended up in the same place at the same time. During a birthday celebration for his grandfather, both coaching staffs showed up last week to get in some last-minute recruitment.
Ultimately though, the stud linebacker has chosen to go play for Saban and defensive coordinator Kirby Smart for the next few seasons as he begins what should be a stellar career in Tuscaloosa.
Evans not only brings superior tackling ability to the table, but he will also be crucial in the pass rush for the Tide as they look to improve that defense against some of the more mobile quarterbacks in the nation.
