National Signing Day 2014: Damien Mama, No. 1 OG, commits to USC Trojans

In his first recruiting season as the head coach of the USC Trojans after coming over from the Washington Huskies following the 2013 season, Steve Sarkisian received a big-time commitment on Wednesday during the National Signing Day festivities as he grabbed to top guard in the country in Damien Mama.

Mama was a highly-sought after four-star prospect that also fielded offers from the BYU Cougars, Alabama Crimson Tide, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and a host of others.

In front of his friends and family, Mama made the life-changing announcement live on national television on ESPNU.

As far as any early contributions that Mama can make, the opportunity may certainly be there. Whenever a new head coach comes in to take over the reins, no job is really secure and the monster 6-4, 370-pounder should have an opportunity to get on the field early.

This definitely shoots the ranking up for the Trojans and is a good step in the right direction for Sarkisian to getting his offensive gameplan in place.
