National Signing Day 2014: Isiah Ford signs with Virginia Tech

Earlier in the day, the Virginia Tech Hokies lost perhaps their best offensive commitment when 4-star wide receiver Ja’Von Harrison decommitted from Virginia Tech and signed with the Florida State Seminoles.

The Hokies went back into Florida to get a replacement when they signed composite 3-star wide receiver Isiah Ford on Wednesday.

The 6’2, 170-pound Ford attends Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida.

Ford was a long time Louisville Cardinals commitment, but after head coach Charlie Strong left for the Texas Longhorns and Louisville decided to bring Bobby Petrino back as head coach.

Ford gave Louisville a chance to remain in the race and had an in-home visit from Petrino just over two weeks ago, but that clearly wasn’t enough to bring Ford back into the fold.

Instead, he’ll join the Hokies, who are in dire need of playmakers on offense.

Ford is considered the 53rd best wide receiver prospect, 48th best overall prospect in the state of Florida and the 377th best overall prospect, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
