As the announcements continue to roll in on National Signing Day, four-star defensive tackle Travonte Valentine became the latest player to sign his National Letter of Intent. Valentine was choosing between the LSU Tigers and Miami Hurricanes, and he ultimately decided to sign with LSU.
Valentine spent most of last year as a verbal commitment to “The U,” but he was leaning towards LSU over the past few weeks.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Valentine hails from Hialeah, Florida, where he was a standout defender at Champagnat Catholic High School.
Valentine also had offers from many of the top schools across the nation, including Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan State, UCLA and USC. He only took official visits to LSU and Miami.
He was ranked No. 164 in the ESPN 300.
Velentine has the ability to become a dominant defensive tackle at the collegiate level. He has drawn comparisons to former LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers.
