The South Carolina Gamecocks added one more important piece to their 2014 recruiting class when 4-star cornerback Wesley Green committed to the Gamecocks on Wednesday evening.
Green told The New College Football Show he “loved everything about South Carolina” and he was sure about the Gamecocks when he took his official visit on the weekend January 17.
It was the second 4-star defensive back the Gamecocks added on National Signing Day. Earlier in the day, 4-star Chris Lammons, a former Florida Gators’ commitment, signed with South Carolina, choosing the Gamecocks over the Wisconsin Badgers.
Green had narrowed his list down to two and it came down to the Gamecocks or the Georgia Bulldogs.
Green committed to South Carolina back in June, but decommitted in September. However, he appeared to be more interested in South Carolina than any other school throughout the process, continuing to visit the campus during the season.
The 5’11, 170-pound Green attends Lithonia, Georgia and attends Martin Luther King Jr. High School.
Green is considered the 16th best cornerback prospect, the 12th best overall prospect in Georgia and 160th best overall prospect in the class of 2014, according to 24/7 Sports composite rankings.
Green also had offers from the Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers, Clemson Tigers and Florida Gators, among others.
