On Monday, 3-star offensive tackle Andrew Mike committed to the Vanderbilt Commodores.
However, it didn’t appear like his recruitment was completely over. Mike wanted to be a Florida Gator and if the Gators struck out on a couple of offensive line targets, they could still give Mike an offer. That happened on on the eve of National Signing Day. The Gators told Mike they had a spot for him and he committed to Florida.
5-star Damian Prince had a lot of interest in the Gators, but it looks like he will stay local and sign with the Maryland Terrapins. The Gators appeared to be the leader for 4-star Derrick Kelly, but he was in a similar situation as Mike, only with the rival Florida State Seminoles. The Seminoles told Kelly they had a spot for him and offered him Tuesday. Most pundits believe he will sign with Florida State now.
The 6’7, 270-pound Mike, who attends Sabino High School in Tuscon, Arizona is still a very good prospect. He is considered the 34th best offensive tackle prospect in the country, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Vanderbilt responded by snagging a commitment from 2-star Riley Tindol. The 6’6, 270-pound Tindol attends Autauga Academy in Prattville, Alabama.
