The Brooklyn Nets are currently debating whether they should go all-in on a championship this season or tanks and try to reset after the failure of their most recent experiment. Trading for Kevin Garnett, Paul Piece and hiring Jason Kidd ended up being a plan that blew up in everyones face, and the Nets may try to get some of their future back by trading some of their present stars.

According to Yannis Koutroupis of Basketball Insiders, the Nets could pull the trigger on some big name trades before the deadline in an effort to save face and a disappointing season.

"Truth be told, there really isn’t an untouchable piece on the Nets roster. There’s not a fire sale going on, but in a market where star players are difficult to acquire, Lopez, Deron Williams, Paul Pierce and Joe Johnson could likely be obtained for less than their true value because the Nets are clearly sellers with the NBA’s February 20 trade deadline fast approaching."

As crummy as the Nets have been this season, they’re still just four games behind the Toronto Raptors for the lead in the Atlantic Division and the team is the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Tanking isn’t out of the option, but the Nets are starting to turn things around and selling at the deadline could end up further alienating the fan base in Brooklyn.
