Streak for the Cash brings another 20+ pick day on Wednesday giving streakers plenty of chance to rack up some greens as the first week in February winds down.  We start with another round of soccer from Europe with Cup matches from Spain, Italy, and Portugal with a couple of United Super Cup games getting us started.  Tonight, it’s a hoop-heavy board with an NHL pick late after plenty of college and NBA basketball make up the bulk of the action.

Each day, I’ll give you my picks for the day with a quick rundown of each game as well as my confidence in my pick on a scale of 1-10. There is also a newly-minted Fansided group which is open to the public and free to join by clicking here of by searching for “Fansided” in the Group Directory page.  Here’s my picks for today and my results so far this month:

2/5 Streak Picks

11:00- Zenit St. Petersburg Win: In this year’s United Supercup, two Russian teams take on a pair of Ukranian squads. Today’s matches are the final in round robin play. So far, Metalist Kharkiv are 0-2 while Zenit is 1-1. For St Petersburg to have a chance at winning the tournament they’ll need a win here, and I think they’ll get it as they come in as the favorite. Confidence-5

2:00- Shakhthar Donetsk: Donestsk is undefeated at the Supercup and have been impressive in their 2-1 and 2-0 wins. They can clinch the tournament by beating CSKA Moscow who lost 2-0 to Zenit after Donetsk beat Zenit 2-1.  While every game is unique, it speaks to Donestk’s form which right now looks suberb. Confidence-5

2:00- Atletico Madrid win or draw: Real Madrid hosts Atletico in the first of three matches between the teams in the next month. Atletico sits atop the table in league play and beat Real Madrid 1-0 at Bernabeu earlier this season.  Real Madrid avoided a blow when Cristiano Ronaldo avoided suspension, but they’ll still have their hands full with a very good team getting the draw. Confidence-4

2:45- AS Roma Win: Roma has been excellent at home in Serie A action with a 9-2-0 record while Napoli is 6-2-3 on the road.  Roma won their earlier league match 2-0 and have won five in a row thanks to solid play at home.  Napoli played just a few days ago fallin 3-0 at Atalanta while the Roma game was postposed so they should be fresh. Confidence-6

4:00- Barcelona wins by 3+: Barca hosts Real Sociedad in the other Copa Del Rey semi and in this prop gives a pair of goals to Real Sociedad.  In La Liga play, Barcelona beat them 4-1 earlier this season, and Sociedad just lost to Atletico 4-0 earlier this week. While I hate giving goals, I’ll do it in this situation since Barcelona usually dominates at home. Confidence-3

4:00- Estoril win, draw, or lose by 1: FC Porto has the name recognition and  is at home as they take on Estoril who have been a good road team in league play.  Porto is 7-1-0 at home this season, but they played to a 2-2 tie with Estoril earlier this season, so I’m hesitant to give the extra goal in a game I’m not sure Porto will be invested in since they’re in a fight for the Liga crown. Confidence-4

7:02- Any Other Result: BC gets 14 points in this prop as they take on Virginia and that’s pretty much right where Vegas has the line as well. The Eagles did just take Notre Dame to overtime in South Bend in their last game and haven’t lost by 15 since the first of the year even though they’ve played Syracuse and UNC.  Whenever the spread is this big, I try to take the points if I can since a backdoor cover always is a possibility. Confidence-5

7:03- No Virginia doesn’t have a Double Digit lead at Halftime: I think BC hangs around in this even though the Cavs should get the win at home. Confidence-3

Feb 1, 2014; Ames, IA, USA; Oklahoma Sooners guard Buddy Hield (24) dunks against the Iowa State Cyclones in the second half at James H. Hilton Coliseum. Iowa State beat Oklahoma 81-75. Mandatory Credit: Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

7:04- Oklahoma Sooners: West Virginia is slightly favored (1 1/2) at home against the visiting Sooners. OU did lose its last game at Iowa State after knocking off then-#8 Oklahoma State, but I think they’ll bounce back and get the win on the road ofver a West Virginia team who is 0-4 against ranked teams. Confidence-4

7:04- UCF Knights: UCF hosts USF in an in-state rivalry and are favored by four at home despite having a slightly worse record.  UCF has dropped their last six in a row, but USF has only one one of their last six.  Neither team is on a high level, so I’ll go with the home team with low confidence. Confidence-3

7:05- Philadelphia 76ers: The 76ers are two-point home underdogs as they host the Celtics who they beat in Boston just a week ago.  The C’s should have Rajon Rondo for this one which could make the difference, but I’m still taking the home dog because Boston has lost 11 of 12 road games. Confidence-3

7:05- Cleveland Cavaliers: The Cavs are getting plenty of Streak picks as they host the Lakers as six-point favorites. The Lakers have lost seven in a row including one last night to the Timberloves and have dropped games to the Bobcats and Magic in their last five as well.  Look for Cleveland to snap its own five-game losing streak against the injury-depleted Lakers. Confidence-5

7:05- Washington Wizards: The Wizards have beaten the Thunder and Trail Blazers by comfortable margins in their last two games both at the Verizon Center and now they welcome in the Spurs who needed a late rally to overcome the Pelicans in their last game.  San Antonio is at less than full strength and the Wizards have won me over, so since they’re at home I’ll take them. Confidence-4

7:05- Detroit Pistons: Detroit has been playing well lately falling just short against Miami as they tried to win their third game in a row.  One of those wins came over Orlando who they beat in Detroit by 16. The Magic have dropped 17 of their last 20, and the Pistons come in as three point road favorites. Confidence-6

Feb 3, 2014; Oklahoma City, OK, USA; Memphis Grizzlies power forward Zach Randolph (50) drives to the basket against Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams (12) during the second quarter at Chesapeake Energy Arena. Mandatory Credit: Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

8:05- Memphis Grizzlies: The Grizz host the Mavs who are coming off a 3-1 homestand although the wins were only over the Kings, Pistons, and Cavs.  Memphis had won six in a row before losing at Oklahoma City on Monday, but I think they’ll bounce back and get the win especially at home against Dallas who is 11-13 on the road. Confidence-6 1/2

8:05- New Orleans Pelicans: Both the Hawks and Pelicans have played well lately, but I’ll go with New Orleans at home where they’re two-point favorites.  This will be a great game to watch but a tough one to pick. Confidence-3

8:05- Wichita State Shockers: Can the Shockers improve to 24-0 as they visit the Indiana State Sycamores? They’ll have to overcome travel woes after their flight yesterday was canceled, and they plan on traveling on gameday which teams always try to avoid. They’re still favored by 4 1/2 and they beat Indiana State by 20 just a few weeks ago, so I think they’ll get the road win here and stay perfect. Confidence-7

8:10- Portland Trail Blazers: The Blazers are favored by a deuce in Madison Square Garden coming off a tough road loss in Washington. In fact, Portland has lost three of their last four as they come to MSG while the Knicks are coming off back to back losses of their own to Miami and Milwaukee. I expect Portland to break out of their slump and have no confidence in the Knicks, but this should be a good game so I don’t have much confidence. Confidence-4

8:11- Carmelo Anthony: Anthony goes head-to-head in this prop with LaMarcus Aldridge. It is points and rebounds which works in Aldridge’s favor and he also gets the tie, but at home against a quality opponent ‘Melo always comes out firing early.  It will most likely be very, very close but I’ll take Anthony at home. Confidence-3

9:05- Louisville wins by Double Digits: The Cardinals are favored by 14, so this is a nice pick getting the extra four points by taking Louisville.  The Cardinals have won five of their last six including an earlier game against Houston which they won by 39 points on their home floor.  It mostl likely won’t get that one-sided in this one, but I do think Louisville wins comfortably. Confidence-7

9:05- California Golden Bears: Cal are favored by 3 1/2 as they host Stanford in their first game since knocking off Arizona. Prior to that game, they had dropped three straight, and Arizona had just narrowly escaped the same Stanford team that now visits Haas Pavillion to take on the Golden Bears. Cal’s the pick at home, but this should be a close one especially since Stanford won their earlier matchup by 7 in Palo Alto. Confidence-4

9:15- San Diego State Aztecs: SD State is actually a 1 1/2 point underdog despite being ranked fifth in the country as they head to Idaho to visit Boise State. The Broncos have wone their last three games at home and have played very tough against some solid competition this season including a three-point loss at then-#13 San Diego State.  While Boise has played well, they haven’t been able to quite complete the upset which I think will be the case again tonight.  I can see the upset, but it is too hard to pick Boise State since they lost to New Mexico and UNLV in conference on the road and even dropped a game to Wyoming at home. Confidence-4 1/2

9:30- No No player scores 10+ in 3rd Qtr: While ‘Melo or some other player could definitely score 10, I think it’s much more likely that no one does making that the more likely side in this susceptible prop. Confidence-3

10:05- Chicago Blackhawks: The Ducks have lost three straight home games and four of their last six at The Pond after starting 20-0-2. The Blackhawks knocked off the Kings in LA two days ago and now look to improve to 3-0-2 on their road trip where they’ve rediscovered their potent offense. It’s never easy to pick against the Ducks at home, but I’ll got with the ‘Hawks here. Confidence-5

10:40- Miami Heat: The Heat edged the Clippers by five in Miami earlier this season but now have to travel to LA to face the Clippers at Staples Center where they are 20-3 on the year.  Miami is still the pick for me in this one though after the Clippers lost on Monday in Denver and Dwyane Wade showed signs of returning to form in Miami’s Monday win over Detroit. Confidence-4
