Texas Rangers' ballpark renamed Globe Life Park in Arlington

The Texas Rangers’ home in Arlington, Texas is being re-named. It was once called Ameriquest Field, but they backed out of their 20-year commitment and the stadium has simply been called the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

From the Dallas Morning News:

The official name of the Texas Rangers’ home stadium is now Globe Life Park in Arlington. The deal is for 10 years, which is the length of the remaining years on the stadium’s lease.

Globe Life will also sponsor work of the Texas Rangers Foundation. The Texas Rangers specifically wanted to keep Arlington in the name, but the city gets nothing in the deal other than that. There is no announcement about money or length of contract yet, but the Texas Rangers said it is comparable to similar stadium naming-rights deals.

The change has been done in order to create another avenue of cash-flow for the team as they look to remain competitive with a larger payroll.
