Arbitration: Orioles and Matt Wieters reach settlement

The Baltimore Orioles have avoided arbitration with all of their eligible players as of Thursday.

Matt Wieters, today, agreed to a deal for 2014 with the Orioles, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. The contract for the catcher is for $7.7 million. Last year in 2013, he earned $5.5 million.

Wieters will be headed into his age-27 season, and last year hit .235/.287/.417 with 22 home runs. The two-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove has been the subject of many contract extension rumors alongside fellow arbitration eligible teammate Chris Davis.
