Last night UFC president, Dana White, joined FOX Sports Live to discuss a multitude of topics in the UFC and MMA. During the interview, White was asked about former WWE wrestler CM Punk fighting in the UFC. Over the last week or so, rampant speculation has been made that Punk will be transitioning into MMA after leaving the WWE.
In the midst of this speculation, Punk is an avid MMA fan, has a history in jiu-jitsu training, and has been seen at numerous UFC events with the UFC boss himself. Here is what Dana had to say about the possibility of CM Punk fighting inside the UFC’s Octagon:
He and I have spent plenty of time together over the last couple months. He was actually at the fight in Chicago- he was with me all night. Never once has he said to me that he wants to fight.
Obviously the specualtion is meer speculation, and it is unlikely that Punk will ever step inside the Octagon. Of course, if he did, he would not be the first wrestler to do so. Brock Lesnar transitioned from WWE to MMA just fine, as he became the UFC Heavyweight champion in only his fourth professional fight.
