Former WWE/World Heavyweight Champion Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has stepped away from the World Wrestling Entertainment yet again. He’s getting back to business with Hollywood and producing two new shows that will air on TNT and HBO.
The show he’s currently filming for HBO will revolve around retired professional athlete’s in the Miami, Florida area. That’s a show that I’m really excited about and hopefully former Canes’ teammate Warren Sapp will make an appearance.
There’s a huge difference between both shows. One is based off a script, the other is about real life people who are going through tough times. The Rock and his crew got the greenlight from TNT to film their series titled ‘Wake Up Call’.
The Rock will be waking people up at 4 a.m. and staging dramatic reunions and finding ways to motivate people to do good things. Pretty much reaching out to those who may be doing drugs, gang members, stuff like that.
Now with a show like this, you would have to think that other celebrities besides Johnson would be involved. These people that he’s reaching out too could have their story tied into something big. It could be professional wrestling, baseball, basketball, football, even mixed martial arts.
That’s where UFC President Dana White comes in. The Rock issued out a Tweet a couple of days ago thanking Dana White for appearing on his upcoming TNT show. The Tweet involved a picture of both Johnson and White.
