Georgia Bulldogs offensive tackle Mark Beard has announced that he will be transferring from the university after graduating in the spring. The school confirmed the announcement with a statement on Thursday.
“We appreciate Mark’s contributions to our program the last two years and wish him the very best for his final year of eligibility,” head coach Mark Richt said in a news release.
Because of NCAA transfer rules, Beard will be able to start immediately after he finds a new home.
Beard played in 26 games during his time with Georgia, including two starts. He transferred to the Bulldogs two years ago after playing with Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College.
“I’m grateful for the experience I’ve had at Georgia and that I’ll leave with a degree from UGA,” said Beard. “I’m looking forward to the next step in my football career.”
