The Dallas Mavericks say they like their team as currently constructed, but there is always room for improvement.

That’s why they reportedly are interested in adding either a big man or a guard with scoring ability come the NBA’s trade deadline, this according to Basketball Insiders.

One source close to the Mavericks admitted that adding a big man or another player with scoring punch would be attractive, but that the Mavericks really liked the construction of this team as it stands now, pointing to the fact that the team added nine new players this season and that’s a key reason to be somewhat patient.

One other thought to keep in mind is that the Mavericks have set themselves up to be major players in free agency this offseason. Of course, that’s not exactly different from the past two offseasons where Dallas struck out, but with multiple expiring contracts the Mavericks aren’t going to be itching to add a lot of long term salary.

There’s no mention of any specific players the Mavericks are interested in.
