Just days after Magic Johnson bashed the Lakers publicly, he says he wants to help them moving forward by recruiting free agents.
The Lakers legend appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and threw shade on the organizations front office and on head coach Mike D’Antoni. Then just days later Johnson appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show and suggested that the Lakers ‘don’t like when he tells the truth’.
Now apparently attempting to extend a helping hand, Johnson says he’d like to help the Lakers bring in free agents to better the franchise.
“I love them. I’m going to support them. I asked Mitch [Kupchak] the other day if you want me to recruit this summer,” Johnson said, referring to the Lakers’ general manager. “People don’t know that was my role with Dr. Buss for a while. I was the first to call Ron Artest, Lamar Odom, all these guys. That was my job, calling them and recruiting them.”
Certainly a bit odd to see such a high profile member of the organization have such a strained relationship with the franchise.
