With the NBA trade deadline fast approaching, teams that are looking to make moves at the deadline are starting to scope out which strategies are the best and which ones will net them the return they want. For the Orlando Magic, the only thing they want is a high lottery pick and cap space, which has fueled rumors that the team is looking to move both Arron Afflalo and Jameer Nelson.

The Magic may very well move one or both by the deadline, but Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel states that neither player is a lock to be moved by the deadline.

Orlando wants a future, and the only way to secure a future in a market like Orlando is to build through the draft. The Magic already have a star guard in Victor Oladipo and have young pieces in place, but the team still needs a lot done before they can be considered contenders.

Keeping Afflalo and Nelson doesn’t derail plans to get a high draft pick, but the team may want to look into moving one or both if they want additional draft picks to pair with whatever top 5 pick they end up with.
