Oakland Athletics debut new green alternate jersey (Photo)

The Oakland Athletics have worn an alternate green jersey for a long time – a tradition that will continue this season. But for the first time in years, the threads will have an updated look.

The old Athletics alternate featured a green base with a yellow script that read ‘Athletics’ across the chest.

No longer will that be the case as the 2014 alternate scraps the chest plate and opts for a white and yellow piped border down the middle of the jersey. The script logo will be replaced by the Athletics ‘A’s’ logo which will be placed on the left breast plate and will be white with a yellow outline.

So far the fan reaction on Twitter has been mixed at best in regards to the new look. I’ve some express excitement for the jersey but it appears a lot aren’t feeling the change.

Personally, I’m a bigger fan of the Athletics yellow alternates, but these aren’t awful by any stretch.

I like the old one better. Actually, I’d rather see an A’s jersey that said “Oakland” across the chest. But we all know why Lew Wolff won’t do that.
