After a 14 game absence, Detroit Red Wings, and Team Russia, star forward Pavel Datsyuk will make his return tonight when the Red Wings face the Florida Panthers. The news was made official via the NHL this afternoon.
Datsyuk hasn’t played since the NHL Winter Classic against the Toronto Maple Leafs on News Year’s Day after suffering a knee injury. The return tonight will give Datsyuk two games to shake off the game rust before heading to his home country of Russia to captain his country’s team in the Sochi Winter Olympics. Datsyuk has missed 21 games this year due to injuries. However in his 35 games played this season, Datsyuk has 15 goals and 32 points, proving that when healthy, even after missing time, he is still one of the most prolific players in the game.
