Thursday on Streak for the Cash we have a different board than yesterday’s hoops-heavy focus as the NBA has a lighter schedule leaving us with plenty of NHL games especially in the early evening window. There’s also a few college basketball games along with some feature NBA games on the slate for tonight. Before we get to all that, we start with a PGA Tour prop and a couple of Portuguese cup matches.

Each day, you can find my picks for the day here on Fansided with a quick rundown of each game as well as my confidence in my pick on a scale of 1-10. There is also a newly-minted Fansided group which is open to the public and free to join by clicking here of by searching for “Fansided” in the Group Directory page.  Here’s my picks for today and my results so far this month:

2/6 Streak Picks

Oct 6, 2013; Dublin, OH, USA; Hunter Mahan on the putting green before the fourth round of the Presidents Cup at Muirfield Village Golf Club. Mandatory Credit: Allan Henry-USA TODAY Sports

11:22- Hunter Mahan: Normally in nine hole props, it’s best to take the tie unless there’s a clear disparity between the two golfers.  Mahan finished a -3 on Sunday at TPC Scottsdale closing to a t4 finish.  He also has a very nice history at Pebble Beach as he takes on Bo Van Pelt in this prop. BVP has missed the cut in two of his three events this calendar year including last week when a first round 76 kept him out of the weekend in Phoenix. Confidence-5

2:00- Rio Ave Win: Rio Ave is at home as they take on Academica. The two teams have almost identical league records, but Rio beat Academica on the road 1-0 in their earlier meeting. When you add in that Acamedica played their last match just Sunday while Rio got an extra day of rest after their Saturday game, I give Rio the slight edge at home. Confidence-3

3:15- Any Other Score: This is a coin-flip quick prop, but I’ll take one of them to go either below or above par. Confidence-3 1/2

4:00- Braga wins by 2+: So far in La Liga play Braga is 7-2-8, and they’ll be the home team as they take on Aves who is in the league below. If Braga goes all in, they should win by multiple goals, but Cup games can sometimes be tricky as clubs try to manage playing time and focus on league play. Confidence-4

7:00- LSU Tigers: LSU are three-point favorites on the road as they take on Georgia in this SEC clash. The Tigers have won four of their last five but all those games have been at home.  In fact, LSU has dropped it’s last two road games at Ole Miss and Alabama.  If Georgia was in better form, they’d be the pick but they’ve dropped their last three and have really struggled on the offensive end. Confidence-4

7:00- Cincinnati Bearcats: The Bearcats are five point favorites at home against UCONN in a great AAC game between two ranked squads. So far in conference play Cincy is 10-0 while UCONN is just 5-3. Overall, Cincinnati has won 14 in a row and is playing too well to pick against even with a dangerous UCONN team coming to town. Confidence-7

Jan 30, 2014; Storrs, CT, USA; Connecticut Huskies guard Shabazz Napier (13) high-fives head coach Kevin Ollie against the Houston Cougars the second half at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion. UConn defeated Houston 80-43. Mandatory Credit: David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

7:03- Shabazz Napier or Tie: This is an extremely close head-to-head prop with Napier taking on Sean Kilpatrick.  Kilpatrick averages 19.4 points per game while Napier comes in averaging 17.9 PPG.  Recently their scoring lines are extremely close, and I expect this one to be as well.  Napier gets the tie and a slight advantage in my mind since Cincinnati does have more scoring options than UCONN. Confidence-3 1/2

7:00- Robert Morris Colonials: The Colonials are three-point favorites as they take on the Blackbirds of LIU-Brooklyn in this Northeast Conference clash. RMU is 7-1 in conference while LIU is just 2-6 in conference play. Confidence-6

7:00- Colorado Avalanche: The Avs are actually the underdog at +100 as they head to Philadelphia to face the Flyers but Streakers are flocking to the Avs based on their superior record.  The Avs lost in New York in their last game to the Rangers but had won the previous four. The Flyers are playing good as well having won three of their last four. Since the Avs won the earlier meeting and are the better team, I think they’ll get the win on the road in Phily. Confidence-4

7:00- New York Islanders: The Isles are the strongest early NHL pick according to Vegas who has them at -160 as they host the Flames. Calgary has dropped four straight road games while the Islanders struggle at home. I think they’ll get the win in this one though Confidence-5

7:00- Montreal Canadiens: The Canadiens are a slight favorite (-135) as they host the Canucks. Vancouver has dropped five straight and are 3-7-0 in their last ten and the Canadiens beat them 4-1 in Vancouver earlier this season. Confidence-5 1/2

7:30- Tampa Bay Lightning: Tampa is -160 at home as they host Toronto who has dropped three straight road games and are just 10-12-5 on the road this season while Tampa is a solid 16-6-3 at home. The Leafs just lost in Florida, so Tampa should be able to continue their road woes. Confidence-4 1/2

7:30- Florida Panthers: Florida and Detroit are both -110 making this truly a pick’em game. Detroit has been struggling on the road while Florida did beat Toronto their last time out, so I’ll go with the Panthers in what many will see as an upset. Confidence 4

8:00- Boston Bruins: Boston is +120 on the road as they take on the Blues who have gone 20-5-3 at home so far this season.  The Blues beat the Bruins in a shootout earlier this year, and I expect another hard-fough, close game in what could easily be a Stanley Cup finals Preview. St. Louis  has lost two of their last three while Boston has won six of their last seven. Confidence-3

Feb 1, 2014; Calgary, Alberta, CAN; Minnesota Wild defenseman Keith Ballard (2) celebrates his goal with teammates against the Calgary Flames during the third period at Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary Flames won 4-3. Mandatory Credit: Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

8:00- Minnesota Wild: The Wild are -155 favorites as they go for their fifth straight win at the Xcel Energy Center. Minnesota has take the last two meetings against Nashville and hasn’t allowed a goal to the Preds in eight periods.  This is the Wild’s last game before the Olympic break, so they should be motivated to finish strong. Confidence-6

8:10- Nets Player with 10+ Pts in 1H or nobody scores 10 Pts in the first half: This is a unique prop, but since the Spurs usually have a more balanced attack I’ll lean towards the Nets in this one. It’s another quick prop that could easily go either way. Confidence-3 1/2

9:05- Arizona wins by Double Digits: The Wildcats look to bounce back from their first loss of the season as they come home to face a tough Oregon squad.  The Ducks have been ranked off and on this season and are coming off a pair of wins in their last three games. Arizona is favored by 10 1/2, and I think they’ll cover at home where they’ve won by double digits in two of their last three home games. Confidence-4

9:05- Michigan State wins by 15+: The Spartans take on Penn State as 13 1/2 point home favorites. They’ve put together an impressive 8-1 Big Ten season to this point but did lose to Georgetown on a neutral court in their last game meaning they’ve dropped two of three now and their only win in that stretch came in overtime against Iowa.  The problem is Penn State just isn’t good enough to make them the pick here. The Nittany Lions lost by 16 at home to Michigan State, so I don’t see them keeping this one any closer than that margin. Confidence-5

9:30- Spurs more mad FG in 3rd Qtr: The Spurs should win the game meaning they’ll need to make more shots.  The Nets also have a tendency to hit shooting droughts at times, so I’ll take San Antonio in this quick-hitter prop. Typically, I avoid these unless I’m in the red or on a short green and need the quick W. Confidence-4

10:30- Columbus Blue Jackets: Columbus beat LA on January 21 in Columbus and now visit Staples Center looking to continue their playoff push while the Kings are fading fast.  LA has lost four in a row and nine of their last ten. Columbus, on the other hand, has won 11 of their last 14 and just knocked off the Ducks at home in their last game. Normally, I’d take the Kings at home, but the trends are too dramatic to pick against. Confidence-6

10:45- Warriors win by Double Digits: In one of the two NBA games on the schedule, the Warriors host Chicago. Golden State is favored at home by eight even though they are coming off a loss to Charlotte where they struggled to hit any shots.  At home, they are usually pretty good, so to me it’s just a question of if they’ll cover the spread. I think they will, so I’ll close out the NBA day with the Splash Brothers. Confidence Meter-4

11:05- BYU Wins by 15+: The Cougars are 16-point favorites as they host Santa Clara in this WCC game. Santa Clara is just 3-8 in conference and have dropped their last six games. None of those losses have been by 15 points, but one did come at the hands of BYU who beat them by 10 on their home floor. Being in Provo should be worth the extra five points, but beware the back door cover. Confidence Meter-4
