Real Madrid will be without superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who won the FIFA Ballon d’Or award for the best player, for three games. He was suspended for three games, one for raising his hand in a confrontation with an opponent. Two for a gesture he made while leaving the field.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said he is’t happy with the decision and Real Madrid is appealing.
“Nobody is happy with this,” Ancelotti said. “Three games without playing is not normal. That is why we have appealed. Three games for what he did is not normal.”
Ancelotti said that their big summer acquisition, Gareth Bale, will be ready to step in and help fill the void.
“There is no setback,” Ancelotti said. “[Bale] is fine. On Saturday we cannot use Cristiano. With Gareth fresh it could be very good for us, so I preferred to give him a rest. For sure Bale will play on Saturday.”
