As we wrap up the first week of February and reach the quarter pole of the month, Streak for the Cash finishes the week with another strong board.  We start with Finnish, French, German, and Spanish soccer picks throughout this morning and afternoon. Tongiht’s board is the usual mid-winter blend of NHL and NBA options with some college basketball mixed in as well.

Each day, you can find my picks for the day here on Fansided with a quick rundown of each game as well as my confidence in my pick on a scale of 1-10. You are also welcome to join our Fansided group which is open to the public and free to join by clicking here of by searching for “Fansided” in the Group Directory page.  Here’s my picks for today and my results so far this month:

2/7 Streak Picks

10:00- KuPS Win or Draw: KuPS just beat Lahti 2-0 last Saturday and are now at home for this leg of their Finnish Cup match.  They can lose by one and still advance in the Finnish Cup, but I think they’ll pull out at least a draw on their home pitch. Confidence-4

1:22- Any Other Score: Phil should be able to birdie this Par 5. Confidence-5

2:00- St. Etienne Win or Draw: In this French Ligue match, St. Etienne goes on the road to take on Toulouse. Etienne is 12-4-7 while Toulouse is 7-8-7 overall.  Toulouse hasn’t gotten a win in their last three and played earlier this week in Cup play Toulouse did get a 2-1 win at St. Etienne earlier this season, but I thinke Etienee has a good shot at getting at least a draw in this one. Confidence-3

2:30- Bayer Leverkusen win or Draw: Leverkusen sits second in the Bundesliga with an exceptional 13-1-5 record as they take on 10-3-6 Borussia Monchengladbach. Leverkusen won 4-2 when the teams met earlier this season, so I think they can get at least a draw in this one although they have struggled on the road lately. Confidence-5

3:00- Espanyol win: Earlier this season Espanyol beat Granada on the road 1-0 and in this league match hosts Granada. Granada is actually a pretty good road team (4-2-4), but Espanyol has been playing well at home with their only loss in their last three home games in the Primera Division coming at the hands of Real Madrid 1-0. Confidence-4

7:00- Edmonton Oilers: The Devils are 12-7-7 at home as they host Edmonton who are 10-19-4 on the road. Why then are the Oilers the pick? When the two teams met earlier this season in Edmonton, the Oilers won in a shootout.  Edmonton is coming in off a pair of road wins against the Sabres and Rangers. New Jersey has dropped four of five, but they should be well rested after not playing since Monday while Edmonton was on the ice beating the Rangers just last night. Overall, this is a stay away game, but I’ll take the upset. Confidence-2

7:00- Pittsburgh Penguins: The Rangers lost last night at home to Edmonton and now travel to Pittsburgh where the Penguins are 23-4-0.  After losing to the Rangers early in the season, Pittsburgh has beaten them twice in a row and should get the win in this one. Confidence-7

7:00- Carolina Hurricanes: The ‘Canes beat the Panthers in their earlier meeting this season and come in having won five of their last seven matchups.  Florida just hosted the Red Wings last night losing 3-1 and now have to go on the road to face a Carolina team playing well. Confidence-5

7:00- Los Angeles Lakers: The Lakers didn’t even have five eligible players by the end of their game against the Cavs, but they still managed to hold on for the win. Tonight, they’ll continue their road trip with a stop in Philadelphia to take on the sinking Sixers.  Phily has lost 14 of its last 17 games and their last four in a row.  The Lakers have been bad, but they’re playing one of the few NBA teams that have been playing worse. Confidence-4

7:00- Canisius Golden Griffins: Not only are the Golden Griffins one of the coolest obscure college hoops mascots, but they also are favored by three as they host Manhattan in this MAAC contest.  In conference play, Canisius is 10-2 while Manhattan is 8-4.  Canisius has won seven of eight, and Manhattan has dropped two of three. Go Golden Griffins in this game behind their backcourt led by Billy Baron. Confidence-5 1/2

7:00- Fairfield Stags: Fairfield is actually favored by 2 1/2 as they host Monmouth, so don’t be fooled by records.  When the two teams met a couple weeks ago on January 23 Monmouth won at home but only by three.  Since this game’s at Fairfield, I’ll take the Stags to win in a close one. Confidence-3

7:00- Yale Bulldogs: Both Yale and Dartmouth come in 9-9 and Vegas has this as a pick ‘em game.  I’ll go with Yale coming in off impressive wins over Cornell and Columbia, but this truly is a coin-flip pick. Confidence-2

7:00- Any Other Result: Villanova hosts Seton Hall who is fresh off a big road win over Xavier who then lost to Villanova in the following game.  The Wildcats have had an unusual week with power outages and other issues from the mid-week winter storm altering their normal routine.  They come in favored by 12 1/2, but I think the Pirates will be able to cover in this Big East meeting. Seton Hall has been up and down losing some close games on the road to Marquette and St. Johns, but they’ve been playing well enough to keep this one close. Villanova did beat Seton Hall by 16 in early January, but the Pirates didn’t have some of their starters due to injury. Confidence-4

Feb 4, 2014; Atlanta, GA, USA; Indiana Pacers small forward Paul George (24) shoots a three in the second half against the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena. The Pacers won 89-85. Mandatory Credit: Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

7:10- Indiana Pacers: Indiana is 23-2 this season at home and Portland has been struggling a bit offensively. The Pacers are favored by 5 1/2, so getting them straight up at Bankers Life Fieldhouse is unusual and a nice pick. Confidence-6

7:11- 24 Points or Fewer: Both these teams play good defense and the game should be fairly low scoring. Either Paul George or LaMarcus Aldridge could go off, but I think it’s more likely that if they do it will be in the second half. Confidence-4

7:30- Sacramento Kings: The Kings are favored by one as they come into Boston to face the Celtics. Rajon Rondo is back for Boston, but the Kings are playing well having won their last two games.  Sacramento has struggled on the road, but I don’t think the Celtics have an answer for DeMarcus Cousins in the middle. Confidence-5

7:30- Denver Nuggets: The Knicks have run hot and cold all season and right now have dropped three in a row including a loss to the lowly Bucks.  Denver has won their last two as they pay a visit to former players Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith.  I think they’ll be extra-pumped to get the win in this one and should be able to pull out the green as long as Ty Lawson is able to play. Confidence-4 (If Lawson can’t play, 3)

7:30- Brooklyn Nets: Even playing on back-to-back nights, I’ll take the Nets over Detroit in The Palace as they go for their third straight win.  Brooklyn is 7-3 in their last ten games with the three losses coming to quality opponents.  They knocked off San Antonio at home last night in their last game while Detroit lost their most recent contest on the road in Orlando on Wednesday. Detroit has beaten Brooklyn twice this season, but the Nets are playing much better than they were earlier this season, so I still think they’re the pick. Confidence-3 1/2

8:25- Trail Blazers Made 3-pointer: This is a fun prop, but one thats unpredictable. If you’re in the red it’s a nice jump-start option before the late game, but stay away with anything long. Confidence-3

Feb 5, 2014; Anaheim, CA, USA; Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (19) celebrates with Chicago Blackhawks right wing Marian Hossa (81) and left wing Patrick Sharp (10) after scoring a goal against the Anaheim Ducks during the third period at the Honda Center. 9:00- Chicago Blackhawks: The Blackhawks have looked back to their dominant selves on this West Coast swing winning games at Vancouver, Los Angeles and Anaheim by multiple goals in tough environments. If they get their third win in a row, they’ll have to do it without Patrick Kane who will be absent from the team to attend a family funeral.  However, Chicago has won five road games in a row in Phoenix and should be able to beat the Coyotes heading into the Olympic break. Confidence-6

9:05- Valparaiso by Double Digits: Valpo is favored by eight points at home as they host their Horizon League rival Detroit Titans.  They beat Detroit by eight on the road earlier this season, and the Titans have struggled going just 2-6 in their last eight including losing seven of their last eight on the road. Confidence-5

9:05- Creighton wins by 20+: The Blue Jays are 20 point favorites at home against DePaul who has dropped five straight, four by double digits. Creighton beat them in their own building by 19, so I think they’ll cover, but always be wary of those backdoor covers when giving this many points. Confidence-4

Jan 27, 2014; San Jose, CA, USA; San Jose Sharks center Tyler Kennedy (81) takes a shot on goal against the Los Angeles Kings during the second period at SAP Center at San Jose. Mandatory Credit: Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

10:30- San Jose Sharks: The Sharks are 21-4-3 at home as they face the Blue Jackets on the second night of back-to-back games for Columbus. San Jose is 8-4-0 in their last 12 although they have lost four of their last six.  Columbus has been playing well lately, too, but going into the SAP Center is a tough task, and I think the Sharks will get the win here. Confidence-5
