The Michigan State Spartans took care of the Penn State Nittany Lions handily on Thursday night, and they were able to do so without one of their more important players on the floor, starting point guard Keith Appling, who was nursing a wrist injury.
However, with a crucial game coming up this weekend against a desperate Wisconsin Badgers team, head coach Tom Izzo unfortunately isn’t sure at this point when we’ll see Appling return to running the show for the Spartans.
“I have no idea,” Izzo said. “This has been the most frustrating. It’s beyond disgusting. I have no timeframe. I know he won’t practice tomorrow. Whether he does on Saturday or plays Sunday or whether we’re going (to Wisconsin) without him. I wish I could tell you. If I knew, I’d tell you.”
Appling will be needed for the Badgers game on Sunday, but like we’ve seen with another Michigan State star, Adreian Payne, Izzo will not trot Appling out onto the floor until he feels he’s 100% ready to be there.
