Some were a little shocked to see Sacramento Kings guard Ben McLemore named as a participant in the upcoming Slam Dunk contest during All-Star Weekend.

Those folks probably didn’t watch McLemore much at Kansas nor have they seen the rookie perform with the Sacramento Kings.

McLemore, despite having somewhat of a jump shooter label, can fly out of the gym and according to, may attempt to pull off the holy grail of dunks during the competition – the 720.

The NBA freshman made the suggestion while the Kings were in Boston to take on the Celtics.

“I was thinking about that, nobody has put that up,” McLemore told CLNS Radio. “But we’ll see.”

While 720 dunks aren’t impossible, they’re about as close as one can get.

Pulling one off won’t be easy, but if McLemore is successful, that will all but a wrap on the 2014 Slam Dunk contest.

Unfortunately, the Sacramento Kings rookie wouldn’t be bringing home an individual award as this year, the NBA will make the event a team format pitting East against West.
