The positive affect that the legendary Larry Brown has on the SMU basketball has never been any more evident than it was on Saturday night as he and his Mustangs team stunned the seventh-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats, 76-55, handing Cincinnati their first loss in the American Athletic Conference this season.
It was the first time in 26 years that the Mustangs defeated a Top-10 team, once again, showing how far Brown has brought this program during his short tenure in Dallas. With this win today, the Mustangs improved their record to 19-5 overall on the year and 9-3 in the conference.
It was a dominating performance from start to finish, with SMU taking a commanding 38-24 lead into the locker room for the half. Cincinnati made a few runs in the final 20 minutes, but ultimately ended up being outscored 38-31.
Guards Nic Moore and Nick Russell led the way for the starters, both finishing with double digits in points at 14 and 15 respectively.
Off the bench, forward Ben Moore added in 11 points and five rebounds as SMU ran away with the stunning upset.
Well, only stunning to those that doubted what Brown could do with this program.
