On Saturday, the 2014 Winter Olympics continued with the Team Figure Skating competition. After a first-place performance from ice dancing pair Meryl Davis and Charlie White, the United States moved from fifth to third and were looking to qualify for the finals.
All eyes were on United States ladies figure skater Ashley Wagner, who was looking to bounce back from her performance at the U.S. Nationals, and she bounced back in a big way when she took the ice and executed a routine that scored a 63.10, which fell significantly short of her personal best.
With Wagner’s score, the United States officially qualified for the final round on Sunday, which will feature one of the faces for the U.S. in the Sochi Games, Gracie Gold.
There were some minor mistakes throughout the routine, but it is a performance that will give Wagner some momentum as she prepares for the individual competition next week.
