Sochi Olympics, Team Figure Skating ladies short program results

The ladies short program is in the books, as the Team Figure Skating competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi rolls on. The ladies short program was the final event to take place before the top five finalists would advance on to the free skate portion of the competition, so it was crucial for the women to come out and put on a great show.

15-year-old Russian Yulia Lipnitskaya dazzled the crowd with a stunning performance that gave Russia a first-place finish, while Ashley Wagner of the United States skated for redemption and did enough to get fourth-place and help Team USA advance to the next round.

Here are the top five finishers from the ladies short program:

  1. Yulia Lipnitskaya (RUS) — 72.90
  2. Carolina Kostner (ITA) — 70.84
  3. Mao Asada (JPN) — 64.07
  4. Ashley Wagner (USA) — 63.10
  5. Kaetlyn Osmond (CAN) — 62.54

With the ladies short program in the books, the five teams advancing to the free skate portion of the team figure skating competition have been set:
