Ryan Madson threw an audition session for fifteen teams, reports Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com. The signs were encouraging as the 33-year old topped out at 93 miles per hour. Several teams have reportedly inquired about the right-handed reliever.
Madson would enter his tenth year of Major League service time if he ends up on a big league roster. His previous tenure from 2003-2011 was with the Philadelphia Phillies. He served as a closer for the team in his final year, saving 32 games with a 2.37 ERA in 2011. As a free agent following that year, Madson signed on to pitch with the Cincinnati Reds, but Tommy John surgery was required at the end of 2012’s Spring Training and never pitched with them. After 2012, he signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim but never recovered from the surgery and was released in August.
