Daniel Jeremiah released his latest update to his top 50 prospects for the 2014 NFL Draft held in May with the NFL combine a little more than a week away and to the surprise of few, former South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is No. 1 on his ranking.
The real surprises may the rest of his top five as he has Clemson receiver Sammy Watkins at No. 2, Auburn offensive tackle Greg Robinson at No. 3, UCLA outside linebacker Anthony Barr at No. 4 and Buffalo outside linebacker Khalil Mack at No. 5.
Other notable names include former Heisman and Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel at No. 7, Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater at No. 10 and UCF quarterback Blake Bortles coming in at No. 18. Each of these three quarterbacks have mentioned as possible selections for the Houston Texans who own the No. 1 overall pick.
16 of his top 50 prospects are from the Southeastern Conference which landed the most players on Jeremiah’s rankings which is sure to fluctuate after the combine and as players hold their pro days during the spring and before May’s draft.
