Since the Texas Rangers and Nolan Ryan decided to part ways, his services have been coveted by a team within their division and state, the Houston Astros. As of yet, there is no deal in place for Ryan to work for the Astros, but it isn’t because there isn’t an offer on the table or the Astros aren’t pursuing Ryan.
From the Dallas Morning News:
Astros owner Jim Crane says he hopes to hear from Nolan Ryan “any day,” and the “ball is in his court” about rejoining club, MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart reported.
For Ryan it would mean a chance to work with his son Reid.
“It would be exciting to work with (Reid) in the Astros organization,” Ryan told the Houston Chronicle in January. “The Astros have always had a special place in our hearts. Reid grew up around the Astros organization.”
Ryan worked with the Astros before joining the Rangers and helping them to two World Series appearances.
