Charlie Weis names himself Kansas Jayhawks WRs Coach

Kansas Jayhawks’ head coach Charlie Weis decided to revamp his coaching staff.

After a 1-11 record in 2012 and a 3-9 record in 2013, he kind of had to.

He started by naming former Rice Owls’ offensive coordinator John Reagan as Kansas’ new offensive coordinator. 2013 will be the first time Weis hasn’t called the plays himself.

That, however, didn’t stop Weis from giving himself another role with the team.

Weis has named himself wide receivers coach, replacing Rob Ianello, who will remain on the staff in a different capacity.

Ianello also has served as Weis’ recruiting coordinator over the last two seasons.

“I have decided to adjust our staff,” said Weis in a statement via John Taylor of College Football Talk. “Reggie Mitchell will return to a position he is very familiar with as our recruiting coordinator. Rob Ianello will move to an off-field position as director of research, spending most of his time on recruiting. [New offensive coordinator John] Reagan and I discussed several alternatives and have decided to have me handle the wide receiver position at this time.”
