The Auburn Tigers added what could be an important piece to the 2015 recruiting class when they landed a commitment from Junior College cornerback Tony Bridges on Monday.
“I talked to Coach [Melvin] Smith and all the coaches this morning,” Bridges told Keith Niebuhr of Auburn Undercover. “I told them, War Eagle!”
Smith is Auburn’ cornerbacks’ coach.
The 6’2, 185-pound Bridges attended Hattiesburg High School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi before attending Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Proximity to home had a lot to do with Bridges’ decision.
“I feel like it’s a good program,” Bridges said. “And for me, I’m from Collins, Miss. That’s a small town. SEC football is as big as it gets.”
Bridges is not yet ranked by any major recruiting service.
He is the third commitment for the Tigers in the class of 2015. He joins Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College teammate Jason Smith and North Cobb High School quarterback Tyler Queen.
Smith is a 6’1, 180-pound athlete, who like Bridge, is not rated and Queen is a 6’2, 229-pound, who is considered a 4-star prospect and the ninth-best pocket passer prospect in the country, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
