The Detroit Pistons have been a mess in recent years, much of that due to continued mistakes from general manager Joe Dumars.
The Pistons icon has been relatively bulletproof during his tenure atop the franchise as coaches have taken the fall for his bad decisions in recent years. But that could be coming to a change as Dumars, after firing head coach Mo Cheeks this past weekend, is allegedly on very thin ice moving forward.
NBA sources claim Pistons GM Joe Dumars is walking on perilously thin ice.
Not only has Dumars made poor decisions in the recent past, like signing Josh Smith to absurdly large contract, but he’s made similar mistakes with Charlie Villanueva and Ben Gordon – deals which crippled the Pistons financially.
The Pistons have not won more than 30-games during the past five seasons – somewhat of a shocking statistic considering the Pistons never went into a traditional rebuild, opting to ‘re-tool’ instead after their championship window closed.
That currently looks to have been a poor decision given the franchise’s current state.
