I think it is safe to say that if you have a Facebook profile that over the course of the last week you have seen at least one of your friends’ Facebook “Look Back” videos. That is, if you haven’t already ventured to watch your own. The video takes you back all the way to your very first moments on the social network site, detailing all the fun times you’ve posted about and all those selfies that you now question ever posing for. Well, what would happen if there was a Facebook Look Back video for the leader of the Autobots? Thanks to the Transformers’ Facebook page, we get to find out.
The video starts all the way back in 2007 when the first Transformers film was released in theaters. Of course, his “first moments” are all stills from the original film. His “most liked posts” are quotes from the film. A lot of the “photos he’s shared” are stills from the upcoming film Transformers: Age of Extinction. The icing on the cake, and the things that rounds out the entire montage is the fact that the traditional Facebook “Like” symbol has been replaced by a Transformers style thumbs up.
While this may seem a little kitschy to some, I think it is an entertaining way to get smile out of the audience in anticipation of the upcoming film. Furthermore, it is an avenue that has yet to be explored by any other film in production right now.
The film stars Mark Wahlberg as the main human character named Cade Yeager. Bates Motel’s Nicola Peltz plays Cade’s daughter Tessa. Transformers: Age of Extinction also stars Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, Titus Welliver, Kelsey Grammer, and more.
Transformers: Age of Extinction is scheduled to be released on June 27, 2014.
