It was only a matter of time until RFA champion Pedro Munhoz received a call from the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and that call came just over two weeks after he easily disposed of Billy Daniels at RFA 12.

Munhoz will step up on short notice to face Raphael Assuncao at UFC 170, according to Kings MMA head coach Rafael Cordeiro on Instagram.

Assuncao was in need of a new opponent after Francisco Rivera withdrew from their scheduled bout due to an injury. This will be a great opportunity for Munhoz to improve on his 10-0 record and introduce himself the the rest of the mixed martial arts fan base that may not have been paying attention to one of the top bantamweights outside of the UFC.

UFC 170 will be taking place on Feb. 22 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

The event is headlined by a women’s bantamweight championship bout between title holder Ronda Rousey and undefeated challenger Sara McMann.
