Astros have named Nolan Ryan as club’s Executive Advisor

It is official, former Texas Rangers CEO Nolan Ryan has made the move to the Houston Astros front office as an executive advisor after a lot of courting. It comes just days after Astros owner Jim Crane said he hopes to hear from Ryan “any day,” and the “ball is in his court.”

For Ryan, it is an opportunity to work with his son Reid.

“It would be exciting to work with (Reid) in the Astros organization,” Ryan told the Houston Chronicle in January. “The Astros have always had a special place in our hearts. Reid grew up around the Astros organization.”

Ryan had great success in the Rangers front office helping them win two American League championships, Houston is hoping he can rekindle some of that magic. Though it is unclear how involved he’ll be as an “executive advisor.”
