Yesterday, the Texas Commission finally released the official documents stating what exactly Jessica Eye failed her post fight drug test at UFC 166 for. The speculation turned out to be correct as Eye failed due to cannabinoids in her system.
At the end of the day, her punishment was a small fine of $1875, and one year of a fully probated suspension. The probated suspension is more of a probation, and not a suspension at all. If Eye does not fail any pre-fight drug test for UFC 170, she will be allowed to compete against Alexis Davis.
The real issue in this entire fiasco was Eye’s unwillingness to admit what happened. Eye took to Twitter to rebuff everyone who accused her of failing for Marijuana. She even went after the Bloody Elbow author who first broke the story that Eye failed due to Marijuana.
Many media members feuded on Twitter over Eye’s innocence, only to realize she had been fibbing the entire time.
Eye took to Instagram to apologize to everyone for her actions. If she had simply posted this initially, the situation would have likely unfolded in a much different manner.
Eye will be taking on Alexis Davis at UFC 170 in what is likely a #1 contenders bout in the Women’s Bantamweight division.
