LeBron James says he should be on NBA’s Mount Rushmore, is among greatest ever

When all is said and done, LeBron James will go down as one of the greatest players in NBA history. You know it – I know it – even he knows it.

The Miami Heat superstar recently sat down for an interview with former NBA player Steve Smith and suggested that he belongs on the NBA’s ‘Mount Rushmore’ when his playing career is over:

I’m going to be one of the top four that’s ever played this game, for sure. And if they don’t want me to have one of those top four spots, they’d better find another spot on that mountain. Somebody’s gotta get bumped, but that’s not for me to decide. That’s for the architects.

In all honesty, it’s pretty difficult to disagree with James. Of course, who is dropped to replace James? And to a greater extent, who is going to be dropped to remove Kobe Bryant when he’s done playing?

Obviously you’re never going to take Michael Jordan or Bill Russell out of their spots, but James and Bryant are creeping their way onto that mountain of greatness.

    Seriously?

defenses are soft these days. Id like to see him try and go up for one of those dunks against Karl Malone, Shak, Rodman, or the knicks teams of the 90s, His numbers would be much more mediocre. Now thats not to take anything away from his accomplishments but lets call it like it is. He hadnt won anything until he joined a loaded team in miami. You need rings to get on Mt Rushmore and with Wades health wearing down Im not sure if Lebron has the heart to put a team on his back.

1- Jorden, 2- Bill Russell, 3- Kareem, 4 -Magic Johnson.

Lebron would have gotten Malone. Rodman would have battled him. Knicks were overrated. Didn’t win anything. More hype than reality. Why didn’t you mention the Bad Boy Pistons and their defenses? Remember “the Jordan Rules?”, Laimbeer, Mahorn, Edwards, Salley, and Rodman? THAT was a Man’s Defense. Bird, Jordan, and Magic could testify what it was like going to battle against the Bad Boys.

Your Mount Rushmore is SERIOUS. Lebron vs. Larry Bird as to who could be there would also be a nice conversation.

Kobe? No way. Lebron? He could.
