A week or so ago, word leaked suggesting the Charlotte Bobcats had interest in trading for Philadelphia 76ers swingman Evan Turner.
The former number two overall pick has never fulfilled his promise with the Sixers and given his impending restricted free agency, Philadelphia is expected to trade him come the NBA’s trading deadline.
Multiple teams have expressed interest in the former Ohio State star, but the Bobcats seem to have more interest than most as Zach Lowe suggests they are ‘absolutely serious’ about acquiring the tweener.
The Bobcats are absolutely serious about pursuing Turner, per several league sources, and the Sixers could take on Ben Gordon’s expiring contract along with one of Charlotte’s extra first-rounders (likely the 2014 pick Portland owes it) if that closes the deal.
Charlotte is bordering on the Eastern Conference’s final playoff spot and will likely need a trade acquisition to keep them from falling out of that spot.
Of course, I’m not sure it’s much of a reward considering they’ll likely meet the Indiana Pacers or Miami Heat in the first round of the postseason.
