The Brooklyn Nets could fund a third-world country with their payroll this season and due to that (among other things), it’s likely the Nets will be relatively quiet come the NBA’s trade deadline.
Per Zach Lowe:
The win-now tax champions have two market-shifting trade pieces in Pierce and Brook Lopez, but they appear to be leaning toward standing pat.
The Next aren’t exactly overflowing with trade chips considering the vast majority of players on the roster, they need and they’ve already sent out a handful of draft picks thanks to their offseason trades.
There is speculation the Nets could attempt to trade Brook Lopez, but it’s unknown how he’ll return from his foot injury and no team is going to give up equal value for a player who may eventually be forced to medically retire.
Given everything, there just aren’t many parts the Nets can move and of those parts, few teams will have interest in them,
Thankfully, Brooklyn has seemingly turned themselves around from their early season struggles so trades don’t seem to be overly important right now.
