Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, but Tampa Bay rays starting pitcher Alex Cobb didn’t want to wait any longer to propose to his girlfriend Kelly Reynolds.

Cobb thought of the most romantic and creative way to propose and logically decided he needed the help of an Atlantic bottlenose dolphin at Discovery Cove in Orlando to assist him and the rest is history.

In case you can’t tell from the video, the dolphin approached Reynolds with a buoy that read, “Kelly, will you marry me?”

The 26-year-old Cobb had a breakout season in 2013 when he went 11-3 with a 2.76 earned run average over 22 starts for the Rays. Cobb missed two months after he suffered a concussion after taking a liner to the head on Jun. 15.

Despite the presence of former Cy Young award winner David Price in Tampa, Cobb has a good chance to be the team’s Opening Day starter.
