It would seem as if the cast of the new CW series is starting to come into full view. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Tom Cavanagh is joining the cast of the highly anticipated Arrow spin-off series.
Cavanagh will be joining an already well-rounded cast of characters. Former Glee actor Grant Gustin has been cast in the role of the speedster himself, Barry Allen, also known as The Flash. Gustin has already appeared in two episode of Arrow as Allen.
Also joining the cast recently was Law & Order’s Jesse L. Martin, who has been cast in the role of Detective West, and Candice Patton, who has been brought on as Detective West’s daughter Iris West, who in the series will be the best friend of Barry Allen. The Vampire Diaries actor Rick Cosnett has been cast as Eddie Thawne, and Necessary Roughness’ Danielle Panabaker has been cast as Caitlin Snow.
Cavanagh has been cast in a pretty key role in the series. I mean, we may not have The Flash if it weren’t for him. He will be playing the role of Harrison Wells, a well-known physicist who is the backing behind the Central City S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator. Knocked down a notch or two (or maybe twenty) when the lab explodes, he quickly climbs out of the wreckage when it is discovered that an unintended result of the blast is the creation of The Flash.
Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, and Andrew Krisberg, who all work on Arrow, are producing the pilot. The previously mentioned three, along with Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert are working together on the script; while David Nutter, who has directed episodes of Arrow and Game of Thrones will be directing the pilot.
