The Philadelphia 76ers started out their season strong – much stronger than anybody anticipated. Because of that, they weren’t exactly willing to sell. But a few months later and with the losses mounting up, Philadelphia is expected to make at least one – but possibly multiple moves come the NBA’s trade deadline.
One such name who could be on the move is Spencer Hawes, who according to Jake Fischer, was a target of the Portland Trail Blazers back in December. Fischer wonders if the deal will be rehashed given the current state of the Sixers and Blazers.
Joel Freeland‘s injury certainly opens up another potential landing spot for Spencer Hawes. Portland called the Sixers back in December.
Hawes will be a free agent at season end, so he’ll be relatively cheap since the Sixers know they can’t command much for a couple month rental.
Due $6.5 million dollars this season, it might be difficult to find a middle ground given Philadelphia won’t be wanting salary in return for Hawes and Portland has no expiring contracts on the books.
