Bad news, Knicks fans. Syracuse University head coach Jim Boeheim isn’t a big fan of Carmelo Anthony staying in New York.
Normally, that wouldn’t be a big deal, but Melo recently admitted that he still talks to Boeheim and relies on him for advice. And Boeheim’s advice for Melo? He needs to get out of New York.
The veteran NCAA coach appeared on the Jim Rome Show recently and was asked about Melo. Boeheim hinted that Melo needs to go some place where he can win a championship and suggested that he might want to team up with fellow talented players, much like LeBron James did when he joined the Miami Heat.
But before the interview came to an end, Boeheim, stating that while Melo loves New York, said he would tell him he needs to head elsewhere and ‘go somewhere that can get him a championship’.
Few people have the ear of Carmelo more, so this news shouldn’t be taken lightly. Of course, it’s still Melo’s final decision, but the fact his ‘mentor’ (for a lack of better terms) suggests he go elsewhere has to weigh on the Knicks star.
