Earlier this year, the Phoenix Suns stated they would match any contract offer for Eric Bledsoe. Of course, that was before Bledsoe suffered yet another knee injury.
Now hurt again, has the Suns stance on Bledsoe changed? Not according to team president Lon Babby who again suggested the Suns will match any offer for Bledsoe, despite his history of knee problems.
“I think our answer to (would we match any offer) is yes, that we know enough about Eric as a player,” Babby said. “Even more importantly, we’ve lived with him now for almost a year as a person. We like everything about him. Like him as a teammate, like him as a representative of our franchise and everything that he stands for.
“He’s got a tremendous future.”
Bledsoe will be a restricted free agent at season end, meaning any team can offer him a deal but the Suns will hold the right to match that contract.
Multiple teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, are rumored to be mulling the opportunity but the Suns keep hinting they will match any offer Bledsoe is given.
