The Washington Wizards are said to be in the market for a backup point guard, but that’s not the only thing they’re looking for. According to Bleacher Report’s Jared Zwerling, the Wizards have their eyes set on acquiring a big man come the NBA’s trade deadline.

Hearing the Wizards are interested in acquiring a veteran PG (Andre Miller is a target) and big man, needed to make a stronger playoff push.

The interest in a big man shouldn’t come as a huge shock considering the Wizards have already expressed interest in players like Greg Monroe and Taj Gibson, though so far have struck out on both.

It’s also possible that the Wizards could opt to look into the free agent pool once the trade deadline passes and there will likely be players released/bought out once the deadline concludes. Emeka Okafor of the Phoenix Suns seems to be a strong candidate for such.

Zwerling doesn’t mention who the Wizards would be interested in acquiring by name.

Regardless, it appears they want to be buyers come the deadline as they feel they can hold down a playoff spot in the weak Eastern Conference.
