While the Canadian men’s hockey team is preparing for their 2014 Winter Olympics opener on Thursday against Norway, they have made a decision on who will man the net for their first game in Sochi.
According to CBC’s Tim Wharnsby, Team Canada will roll with Carey Price on Thursday afternoon, while Roberto Luongo will be the team’s netminder when they take on Austria in the second game.
In previous Olympics, we have seen teams alternate goalies for their first two games to get a better feel at who will give them the better performance in the Olympic tournament, so that could very well be what the Canadians are choosing to do.
Since neither Norway nor Austria are expected to provide much of a challenge, this is a great opportunity for both goaltenders to put on a show.
