The United States men’s hockey team is set to take the ice for the first time in the 2014 Winter Olympics on Thursday, with a tournament opening match against Slovakia. There was some discussion and speculation about who the starting netminder would be for the United States in their Sochi opener, but now we have an answer.
On Wednesday morning, Team USA announced that Jonathan Quick would be the man who gets the start over Ryan Miller.
This also means that we will finally get to see Quick’s incredible custom goalie mask out on the ice for the first time in game competition.
Of course, it is important to note that teams often alternate goalies throughout the international tournaments, so it may not be long before Team USA head coach Dan Bylsma gives Miller the call.
